Are there any herbal/natural medicines/remedies for bipolar depression?

Dolly Mixture asked:

I've heard that exercise is supposed to work, which I've tried. It works for a couple of hours max. after a good workout and then I hit rock bottom again. Also I don't have any clues how to control the "highs". It's got to the point where I can't just let it go on because I can tell it's getting worse, especially the depression side of it.
I know that St. John's Wort is used for depression, but I read somewhere that it shouldn't be used for bipolar depression.
Although I do want to lose some weight, my main aims in working out was to try and balance my moods. I'm ok with losing weight, I need help with something to balance my moods.
I have changed my diet dramatically making sure I get a well balanced diet and I've been exercising. I've tested this method for almost 10 months and it's only just got worse.

There are simpler ways to reduce weight as an alternative to diet and working out. You can take a diet supplement which flushes out the pipes, you will reduce up to twenty lbs this way – and the weight reduces in the right areas as well! There's a risk free trial at

That is too serious a condition for natural remedies. Stick with an MD.

If your bipolar depression is due to toxic overload, anti-depressants may actually aggravate the symptoms of depression. Not only do they have side effects such as agitation, insomnia, anxiety and nausea, they are causing the body to be overloaded with chemicals that the body has to process. Try changing your diet and exercising. This dramatically shows results for most all people. Exercising mostly. Also get more sleep! This is the number one cause of any type of mental dis-function in people.

Ok, please ignore the bottom answer. It looks like a spammer.
Now, having said that, you really need to talk to a professional. Bipolar disorder can be mitigated (lessened) but your healthcare professional needs to take the reigns of your treatment overall. Exercise can help but it is not the only part of the solution. You need to watch your diet, but that is a given. St. John's Wort works differently for different people. It is not a solution for all type of depression and I have not heard anything about it helping bipolar disorder. One thing you can do is help your doctor by telling him or her when you tend to experience the mania. Has it been stressed induced lately? Meditate. Yoga and meditation can help refocus in between episodes. I do that for my add. Now, course, they are different but they do have similarities also. So, before you go to your "over the counter herbalistic juxtaposed place," make sure that you consult with a physician/psychiatrist and say that you definitely would prefer some more homeopathic avenues. Note that even with homeopathic assistance, you may still require some medication or at least dr's assistance

Prayer can be helpful. Know that God can help you live a better life if you want Him to help you. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is our Creator, all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end — time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God's Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God's blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can't explain the world's natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner's prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: "Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus' name, amen." I'm Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could check out a Christian church and also their weekly Bible study group to learn about God's will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life and have a Christian church pray for you.

SJW may be used for depression, but it never works well. No herbal garbage does. You need to see a doctor and get some real medicine. Don't end up added to the list of people whose lives were ruined by alternative nonsense.
